These are all resources I have created for Tiffin's new Year 7 scheme of work (starting 2015-16). There's heavy use of UKMT (UK Mathematics Trust) problems, while at the same time covering the core National Curriculum. The resources are intended to stretch the most able whilst having more standard material for those of lower ability, although it should be noted these materials were designed for students in a selective school.
Covers multiplication, division, addition and subtraction of negative numbers.
Covers the precedence of operations (i.e. BIDMAS), making clear that multiplication/division have the same precedence as each other, as do addition/subtraction. Also contains use of a calculator to input more complicated expressions, with use of the ANS key.
Divided into 3 sections: (a) Algebraic notation and simplifying by collecting like terms and multiplying/dividing expressions.
(b) Substituting values, including negative numbers, into algebraic expressions, with consideration of BIDMAS.
(c) Forming algebraic expressions from potentially worded information, particularly appreciating it as the first step in solving equations (the latter which isn't covered till the 'Equations' topic).
(a) Be able to simplify, add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions, including mixtures of improper fractions, integers and mixed numbers.
(b) Deal with fractions nested within fractions.
(c) Solve problems involving successive fractions of a remaining amount.
(d) Solve problems involving finding the original amount before a fraction of it was taken.
