Note: Do no cover the latter half of the GCSE Bounds resource (i.e. combining bounds).
(Used for Tiffin Year 8 scheme of work)
(a) Solve simple problems involving (average) speed, distance and time.
(b) Solve problems involving density, mass and volume (which could include volumes of prisms and cuboids).
(c) Solve more complex problems involving speed, distance and time, including with multiple phases of a journey, or an algebraic element.
(Used to the Tiffin Year 8 scheme of work)
(a) Know laws of indices for multiplying, dividing, raising a power to a power. Understand negative and zero indices.
(b) Be able to raise a whole term to a power, e.g. (3m^2)^4 = 81m^8.
(c) Be able to raise a fraction to a power, e.g. (3/2)^-3 = 8/27.
(a) Understand why putting numbers in standard form is useful (particularly in Science).
(b) Be able to use the x10^ button on your calculator.
(c) Convert numbers to and from standard form.
(d) Multiply and divide numbers in standard form.
(e) Add and subtract numbers in standard form.
Determine lower bounds, upper bounds and error intervals after rounding or truncating. Includes calculations in terms of bounds (subtracting/adding/multiplying/dividing).
(Used for the Tiffin Year 8 scheme of work. Does not include loci.)
(a) Construct triangles given SAS (Side-Angle-Side), ASA, SSS.
(b) Construct perpendicular and angle bisectors, angles of 30, 45, 60 and 90, and the perpendicular from a point on a line.
Covers measuring bearings, constructing bearings, map scale and bearings using angle laws. (Excludes cosine rule/trigonometry questions)
