Trial & Improvement
(a) Use trial and improvement to find solutions to equations that can't easily be solved.
(b) Understand the working required to give a solution to a given degree of accuracy i.e. after identifying solution to required accuracy either side of actual solution, midpoint must be tried.

(a) Understand that the base of a number system is the number of possible values for each digit, and that in base-n, each digit can be between 0 and n-1.
(b) Know how to count in different bases (e.g. binary, decimal, hexadecimal, and all integer bases in general).
(c) Convert from decimal to any base, and any base to decimal.
(d) Be able to add and subtract numbers in any base (particularly binary).
